Buxus NewGen® ‘Freedom’ is a vigorous, dense, rounded boxwood bred for modern landscapes—classic deep-green look with improved toughness against common boxwood issues.
Habit & size: Naturally rounded, full form; typically 4–5 ft tall and wide; faster-growing than many boxwoods.
Foliage: Glossy, deep green leaves that hold good winter color with minimal bronzing.
Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–8.
Light: Full sun to part shade (afternoon shade in hot climates; protect from winter wind).
Soil: Well-drained, evenly moist, mulched; avoid wet feet.
Disease/pests: Bred for improved tolerance to boxwood blight and very good resistance to leafminer; generally deer-resistant.
Uses: Low–mid hedges, foundations, borders, containers, and light topiary.
Care: Responds well to light shearing once or twice a year (best after spring flush).
