Rhodo "Yaku Princess"
Rhododendron ‘Yaku Princess’ is a compact yakushimanum hybrid prized for its neat, mounded habit and color-shifting spring flowers—pink buds opening soft shell-pink and aging to near white.
Key features
Bloom: Dome trusses of funnel-shaped flowers; pink buds → pale pink/white with deeper pink edges; mid–late spring.
Foliage & habit: Broadleaf evergreen; small, glossy dark-green leaves (typical yak fuzzy/tan undersides when young); naturally dense, rounded form.
Size: About 2–3 ft tall and 3–4 ft wide at maturity (slow grower).
Hardiness: Reliable in USDA Zones 5–8; yak parentage gives good bud hardiness and better sun/heat tolerance than many rhodos.
Light: Partial shade best—morning sun, afternoon shade; can take a bit more sun in cool climates.
Soil: Acidic, humus-rich, evenly moist yet well-drained; mulch to keep roots cool and shallow.
Uses: Front borders, foundations, massing, small gardens.
Toxicity: All parts toxic if ingested (grayanotoxins).
All plants come with a regular black nursery pot
