Japanese Maple 'Spring Delight' 10 Gallon
Acer palmatum ‘Spring Delight’ is a vigorous laceleaf (dissectum) Japanese maple selected by Talon Buchholz. In spring its finely cut foliage emerges a yellow-green sharply tipped in red—“as if each lobe was dipped in cranberry juice”—then matures to a rich green in summer before turning bright yellow to orange in fall.
Key Features
Habit & Size: Compact, weeping laceleaf form; typically 3–5 ft tall × 4–6 ft wide at 10 years.
Spring Foliage: Yellow-green leaves with crimson-red tips/pink edges, creating a striking two-tone effect.
Summer Foliage: Transitions to a consistent deep green that holds through the growing season.
Fall Color: Blaze of bright yellow to orange for autumn interest.
Growth & Maintenance: More vigorous and spreading than many dissectums (up to 3–4 ft of growth per year); will “cover the ground” with arching branches unless staked for an upright form.
Hardiness & Culture: USDA Zones 5–8; best in morning sun or dappled light with afternoon shade in hot climates; prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
Landscape Uses: Outstanding as a focal specimen, container accent, or in small-garden settings where its seasonal color and form can be appreciated
All plants come with a regular black nursery pot
