Black Gold® Peat Moss 3.0 cu. ft.

$32.99

Black Gold® Peat Moss is a fine, screened sphagnum peat moss used to improve soil structure, water retention, and root development—great for seed starting, containers, and acid-loving plants.

Key features

  • Soil amendment: Loosens heavy soils and adds water-holding capacity to sandy mixes.

  • Naturally acidic: Low pH (~3.5–4.5) supports azaleas, rhododendrons, blueberries, and hydrangeas (for bluer tones with proper aluminum).

  • Clean & consistent: Uniform texture; low in salts and nutrients (won’t burn seedlings).

  • Seed starting & potting: Ideal base for mixes—blend with perlite/bark for drainage.

  • Usage: Pre-moisten (peat can be hydrophobic when dry). Mix 20–40% by volume into potting soil or garden beds; top-dress lightly as mulch for acid-lovers.

  • Note: Not a fertilizer—pair with a balanced feed. Consider sustainability; coco coir can be a partial alternative where appropriate.
